Nakusp is located at an elevation of 1480 feet, overlooking the Upper Arrow Lakes, midway between Castlegar to the south and Revelstoke to the north. The Arrow Lakes are situated in a forested valley in the Selkirk mountain range in south central British Columbia. To the east are the Slocan and Kootenay valleys and the urban center of Nelson. To the west is the Okanagan Valley orchard belt with the busy cities of Vernon, Kelowna and Penticton.
Nakusp is dependent upon the local logging industry and tourism. Opportunities exist in that Nakusp offers all the seasonal sports. Over the past few years Nakusp has enjoyed a marked growth in population, construction and tourism. Many existing businesses are expanding and once again the Village of Nakusp has become a thriving community.
